Changes to the Open License program

Starting January 1, 2022, you will no longer be able to purchase or renew software or service licenses online through the Microsoft Open License program.

What should I do to buy new licenses or renew my licenses from January 1, 2022?

If you are only purchasing perpetual software licenses (without Software Assurance) and wish to continue to do so, you will need to purchase perpetual software licenses through the CSP model.

If you have online services through the Open License program:

1. Unused online service tokens can still be allocated and used, even after December 31, 2021, as long as it occurs within 5 years of the token purchase.

2. If you want to purchase additional subscriptions to online services, you can do so through CSP, and we can help with it.

In the advantages towards the new CSP model, the flexibility in all its aspects would be highlighted, a model that does not require perpetuity, nor a minimum number of license acquisitions.

Another aspect to highlight would be the hiring periods, which would now be annual, even with a month-to-month billing. And also, much more agile since in Open contracts you had to wait in most cases 24-48 hours, now for CSP it is almost immediately.

The highest point of all is the possibility of being able to license any Microsoft product through CSP.
